The wines of Quinta do Perdigão

Quinta do Perdigão, a name synonymous with excellence and tradition, is located in the beautiful Portuguese wine region of Dão. The vineyard was planted in 1997. José initially ran the vineyard alongside his job as an architect. His daughter Mafalda studied at the University of Tras-òs-Montes in northern Portugal and elevated the wines to a higher level.
Organic wines from Dão
Quinta do Perdigão is a small, family-owned quinta (Portuguese for farm) with only 8 hectares of organic vineyards. These vineyards have a planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare. The grape varieties planted are typical for the Portuguese wine region of Dão: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Alfrocheiro, and the traditional red wine varieties. For white wines, José and Mafalda use Encruzado, Bical, and Malvasia Fina. At Quinta do Perdigão, they believe that their wines are the result of the experience and knowledge of several generations. It is the combination of hard work, passion, the granite soil beneath their feet, the sun that colors the grapes, and the Mediterranean breeze and rain that add aromas. All of this, together with the loving hands that harvest the grapes, ensures that their wines reveal emotions and magic when drunk.
