Tribute to 'Baron von Füstenberg'

Quinta de Sant'Ana

Homenagem 'a Barão von Füstenberg' 2021

This wine is a tribute to Anna's father, owner and co-founder of the Quinta. Her father bought the manor house above Lisbon in 1968. During the Carnation Revolution of 1974, they returned to Germany, never to return again. Son-in-law James was tasked with selling the house in the early 90s. He did, but he sold it to himself. This wine is the Portuguese answer to a Bordeaux, which Anna's father loved so much.

Winemaker António Maçanita & James Frost

Background Quinta de Sant’Ana is located just a 30-minute drive north of Lisbon. The winery is run by James Frost and António Maçanita, who produce organic wines on calcareous clay soil. António’s original and sometimes daring approach results in wines that are both traditional and surprisingly innovative for Portugal. The vineyards are close to the Atlantic Ocean, which provides ideal conditions for the production of refined and fresh wines with a distinct character.

Vineyards The vineyards are organic and in conversion to biodynamic viticulture. Gently sloping, south-facing and with deep, fertile clay soils. The vineyards are located in a valley, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Mornings are cool and afternoons are warm.
