Winemaker Vasilis & Maria Markou
Background Markou Winery is located in the Greek wine region of Attica, near Athens. Winemaker Vasilis runs the organic family business together with his niece Maria. Together, they represent the fourth generation of the company. They mainly work with indigenous grape varieties. Their grandfather Spyros started making Retsina from a small vineyard. Vasilis and Maria have taken a new direction with their wines: new and modern labels, a modern style of wines. They produce about 180,000 bottles on 50 hectares.
