Winemaker Sina Mertz
Background Sina Mertz (1990) took over her father's winery in 2016. The family has lived in Eckelsheim (Kreis Alzey, Rheinhessen), Germany for generations. Sina studied oenology at the University of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. She did internships in Chile and California (with Kendall-Jackson). The soil in Eckelsheim is unique. Porphyry rock full of fossilized seafood.
Vineyards In the organic vineyards around the village of Eckelsheim, Sina's grapes grow around a mountain of porphyry rock. Her choice to make modern German wines honors her and showcases the best of the terroir.
Harvest Manual
Vinification After manual harvesting, the grapes are pressed with whole bunches, after which they ferment mainly on their own yeasts. To preserve the beautiful freshness, a small portion of the grapes is harvested relatively early, allowing the sugars to develop a little more slowly.
Filtering Plate filter
Residual sugar 5.7 grams per liter
Acidity 7.10 grams per liter
