Winemaker Sina Mertz
Background Sina Mertz (1990) took over her father's winery in 2016. The family has lived in Eckelsheim (Kreis Alzey, Rheinhessen), Germany, for generations. Sina studied oenology at the Hochschule in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. She completed internships in Chile and California (with Kendall-Jackson). The soil in Eckelsheim is unique. Porphyry rock full of fossilised seafood.
Vineyards In the organic vineyards around the village of Eckelsheim, Sina's grapes grow around a porphyry rock mountain. Her choice to make modern German wines honours her and shows the best of the terroir.
