Winemaker Charles Aubert
Background Charles (born 1993) worked as a pilot for the French Air Force until his father had a heart attack. Charles decided to continue his family's vineyards, which his great-grandfather started in 1926. He was given the freedom to apply his vision in the vineyard. A renovated winery and complete autonomy and freedom to worthily continue the family estate. In addition to his work as a winemaker, Charles is an active reservist. Charles makes biodynamic wines in three wine regions: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Cairanne, and Côte du Rhône Village Plan de Dieu.
Vineyard The biodynamic vineyards in Cairanne have a unique soil of marl, gravel, and small pebbles. The vineyards are located on south-facing slopes, with a gradient of 13%. The vines are 35 years old.
Vinification After manual harvesting, the grapes are cold-pressed, separated from the solids by gravity. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts. After this, the wine matures for another eight months sur lie, in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for another eight months in the bottle.
