Winemaker António Dinis

Background Rosa and António (1974) continued their vineyard on Rosa's family land after António had spent years as a winemaker for other vineyards and as a laboratory technician at the Vinho Verde Institute (CVRVV). On their 6-hectare vineyard, they make classic wines as found in the Douro. Besides being a winemaker for himself, António is a freelancer for other vineyards, and Rosa manages the B&B. The name Teoria? That's a romantic story: Rosa and António met while graduating. Teoria translates to obtaining a diploma.

Vineyards On the small vineyard, with hills facing south (towards Pinhão), there are over 32 grape varieties. António makes his wines in the rolling landscape of the Douro Valley. Some of the grapevines are old, planted due to the birth of Rosa's father in 1943. They do not work organically but do not use pesticides.

Harvest Manual

Vinification The 16 different grape varieties come from 80+ year old vines planted in honor of the grandfather of António's wife. The wine ferments and ages in French oak barrels for 4 months. After this, the wine ages for another 12 months in the bottle.
