Background The Sabrosa cooperative has existed since 1958. The house was founded because (mainly female farmers) received a lower rate for their grapes. To keep the money in the region, Sabrosa started the cooperative itself. With this, they officially produce Douro port, because the port is also made in the region itself. More than 600 farmers supply grapes to the cooperative. Moscatel do Douro is a unique type of port.
Vineyards Conventional. The Sabrosa cooperative consists of about 600 producers, who own from half a hectare to 17 hectares. The soil in the Cima Corgo consists mainly of granite and schist. The vineyards differ in altitude and the direction of the vines. The altitude of the vineyards is between 400 and 800 meters.
