Winemaker Alexandre Graffard
Background After a career as a wine merchant and winemaker, Alexandre started his own business.
He wanted to make crémants in an innovative way. For example, by making the tanks horizontal, he can create better bubbles in the wine. He grows some of the grapes himself, but he also buys some from local farmers. The wine is named after the best riding horse his grandfather (Henri Champliau) ever had, Petrone from 1968.
Vineyards Alexandre buys grapes from various plots and producers around Mercury to make his wines. After harvesting, the wine matures for 3 months in a horizontal stainless steel tank. After this, the bottles are bottled.
