Winemaker Duarte de Deus
Background Torre de Palma is located in the north of Alentejo, in Monforte. The winery combines traditional viticulture with modern techniques to produce wines that truly reflect the local terroir. The unique microclimate and the work of winemaker Duarte de Deus result in wines with their own character. Torre de Palma wines are appreciated both in Portugal and beyond. Thanks to their high ambitions and quality, we are happy to work with them.
Altitude 310 meters above sea level
Vineyards Organic (in conversion) and planted in 2012. Torre de Palma collaborates with WASP. This is the Wines of Alentejo Sustainable Program. Through this program, winemakers work together to preserve the Alentejo wine region, which suffers from rural-to-urban migration, within the region. Additionally, the winemakers aim to operate as sustainably as possible.
Harvest manual
Vinification The grapes are hand-harvested and selected. After destemming, they go to marble lagares. These are stone troughs where the grapes are pressed by foot. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperatures. The wine then matures for twelve months in new and used French oak.
